Bruce R. Brandlin has been licensed to practice law in California since 1979 and holds an AV Preeminent Rating with Martindale Hubbell.

Before practicing law, Bruce worked in the grocery business for Super A Foods, Inc. and K.V. Mart Co. for twelve years during high school, college and law school. His law practice from 1979 to 1995 included plaintiff’s personal injury, probate, business, civil litigation and employment law. Bruce and his younger brother Brian practiced law together under the firm name of Brandlin and Brandlin in Torrance from 1987 to 1995. In 1995, Bruce took a job as Sr. Vice President/General Counsel with his former employer, K. V. Mart Co. until 2013. As General Counsel, he was responsible for all legal matters of the company, including premises liability, employment law, safety and risk management, training, governmental compliance, workers’ compensation, marketing of insurance, landlord-tenant law, vendor contracts, civil litigation and real estate.

Bruce has investigated and handled more than ten thousand customer and employee accidents in the past 25 years, while being the attorney of record for more than 400 litigated cases. Bruce was a member of the Board of Directors for California Grocers Association for eight years, where he served the interests of his company and other grocers with State legislators in Sacramento. After his youngest son Chris passed the BAR in 2011, Bruce and Chris both decided they would fulfill a family dream of practicing law with other Brandlins. That dream came true when Bruce and Chris joined Burkley Brandlin & Swatik LLP on January 1, 2013. He has served as counsel and attorney for four other independent grocers in Southern California. Bruce is Vice President/Corporate Counsel for Northgate Gonzalez, where he is responsible for all General Liability, Workers Compensation and Employment Law matters.
